<율정별 여유당전서 시문집 제1집 제4권>
정약용, 정약전 형제는 신유박해로 인해 1801년 유배를 떠난다. 11월 5일 감옥에서 나와 11월 21일 나주 주막거리에 도착한다. 이곳에서 형제는 하룻밤을 묵고 다음 날 정약전은 흑산도로 정약용은 강진으로 유배를 떠나 영원한 이별을 하게 된다. 이때의 안타까운 마음을 담은 시가 바로 율정별이다.

They leave prison on the fifth day of the eleventh month and arrive at the tavern street in Naju on the twenty-first day. They spend the night there, and the next
day, Jeong Yakjeon is exiled to Heuksando Island and Jeong Yakyong to Gangjin. and thus the brothers are eternally separated. “Farewell at Yuljeong” is a poem speaking of the sorrow in that moment.
