정약용 시문집 제6권에 수록된 시가 왼편에 적혀있어 정약용이 그린 것으로 추정된다. 그림 오른쪽 아래에는 조선시대 유명한 소장가인 홍현주(洪顯周, 1793-1865)의 인장이 찍혀있다. 홍현주는 정조의 딸인 숙선옹주와 혼인하였으며, 정약용과 초의선사와 함께 교류했던 기록이 남아있다.

Written on the left side of the painting is a poem included in the sixth volume of Jeong Yakyong's collected poems and prose, which renders the assumption that the painting is created by Jeong. Stamped on the bottom right corner is a seal of Hong Hyeonju(1793-1865), who was a famous collector during the Joseon era. Hong married King Jeongjo's daughter Princess Sukseon, and surviving records show that he had exchanges with Jeong Yakyong and the Seon Buddhist monk Choui.
