윤종의가 19세기 후반부터 본격화한 서양 세력의 조선 침투를 우려하여 그에 대비하는 벽사위정闢邪衛正의 방편을 제시하고자 펴낸 책이다. 7권 5책으로 되어 있다. 당시는 1846년(헌종 12) 이래 잇따른 프랑스 함대의 내항으로 서양 세력의 침투에 대한 위기의식이 높아지고 있었다. 이에 당시 사회를 지배해 오던 유교 지식인층은 그에 대비하려는 벽사위정적 방향을 취하게 되었다. 윤종의는 이 책에서 천주교를 서양의 침략 세력과 동일시했다.

This is a book written by Yun Jong-ui, who had growing concerns about the infiltration of Western powers, particularly in the late 19th century. The work aims to propose strategies for “rejecting the heterodoxy and protecting the righteousness” and is organized into seven volumes and five books. The increased presence of French fleets since 1846 (the 12th year of King Heonjong’s reign), heightened the sense of crisis regarding the infiltration of Western powers. Hence, the ruling class at the time, predominantly Confucian scholars, adopted the direction of “refuting the heterodoxy and protecting the righteous” to prepare for this perceived threat. In Yun Jong-ui’s book, Catholicism is identified as the invasive Western power.
